Everything you need to get started.
Use Learn to Swim for beginners, Programmes & Timetables for developing or competitive swimmers, and Adult Swimming for adults seeking structured coached training. If you're unsure, contact the club and we'll guide you.
Where should a new swimmer start?
Adult Swimming includes Adult Beginner Lessons and the Women’s Only Masters Squad.
Do I need to choose the right squad before enquiring?
No. Tell LBHSC the swimmer’s age, current ability and previous experience. A coach can assess the swimmer and recommend the most suitable starting point.
How does squad assessment and placement work?
Start with an enquiry, then take a free trial. A coach assesses the swimmer and recommends a suitable squad placement before LBHSC confirms registration details.
What ability is expected before a squad assessment?
There is no fixed entry test. Enquire with the swimmer’s age and current ability, and a coach will assess and recommend the right starting point at a free trial.
How do I find current session times?
Use the Programmes & Timetables page for the current published training pattern. LBHSC will confirm which session applies after assessment or placement.
How are current fees and payment confirmed?
Fees for every programme are listed on the Join Us page. Once registered, payment is set up by Direct Debit through Swim Club Manager.
Is there a programme for adult swimmers?
Yes. Adult Swimming offers Adult Beginner Lessons and a Women's Only Masters Squad. Community sessions are another route for building confidence.
Where does LBHSC train?
The weekly timetable lists the venue for each session. Please check it when choosing a session.
Ask LBHSC directly.
Tell us the swimmer's age, current ability, goals and any support needs: we'll route your question to the right person.
