1. Our commitment
Everyone should be able to take part in swimming at LBHSC. We work to remove the barriers, physical, digital and otherwise, that might stop someone joining in.
This statement covers access at our venues and the accessibility of this website. If you run into a barrier we have not covered here, tell us: your feedback is how we improve.
2. Physical access at the club
LBHSC sessions run at Isleworth, Hanworth and Heston leisure centres, which are public leisure facilities, and at Oaklands School. The leisure centres provide:
Step-free access throughout the building.
Accessible changing facilities, including a changing places room.
Pool hoists for assisted entry to the water.
Hearing loop systems in reception and poolside areas.
Accessible parking bays close to the main entrance.
Access needs differ from person to person. If you have specific requirements, contact us before your first visit so we can have the right arrangements ready.
Contact us about access: enquiries@lbhsc.org.uk or 07347 673375.
3. SEND swimming for children
LBHSC offers a range of SEND-accessible swimming sessions for children, subject to individual need, suitable staffing and availability.
Some children need one-to-one support, so places are considered case by case. We do not currently offer adult disability swimming.
Please contact the club to discuss your child's needs and current availability.
4. Web accessibility statement
We aim to build and maintain a website that meets WCAG 2.1 Level AA. What that means in practice:
Pages are built with proper semantic structure throughout.
Skip links let keyboard users bypass repeated content.
Interactive elements work by keyboard and show visible focus.
Text meets adequate colour contrast ratios.
Meaningful images carry descriptive alt text.
Navigation, dialogs and interactive elements use correct ARIA roles and labels.
Layouts adapt to text resizing and zoom up to 200%.
No auto-playing media, flashing content or timed sessions.
5. Alternative formats
Need club information in a different format? Email enquiries@lbhsc.org.uk for large print, Easy Read, audio or another language. Wherever possible we will provide it within five working days.
6. Reporting an accessibility issue
Found a barrier on this website or at one of our venues? Tell us what happened and we will put it right.
Report an issue: enquiries@lbhsc.org.uk.
Describe the barrier and what you were trying to do. We aim to respond within five working days.
If our response does not resolve it, the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS) can advise: equalityadvisoryservice.com.
