Head Coach

I’ve been involved in the sport of Swimming since the age of 6yrs. I progressed from a non-swimmer to National finalist/medallist as an Age Group, Youth & Senior swimmer as well as member of the GB Team.

My ethos is dedication, resilience, self-motivation, teamwork and striving to be the best version of oneself. I believe anyone in our community should be given the opportunity to learn to swim, gain essential water safety skills, leading to becoming a successful competitive swimmer if they wish, regardless of their socio-economic background, ethnicity, gender or identity.

I coach because I enjoy engaging with young people, supporting them to fulfil their maximum potential and being part of their swimming journey.

Level 2 Coach and Swimming Instructor, Level 2 Open Water Coach, an advocate in Sport for Social Integration, and a Youth and Adult Mental Health First Aider.

Coach

I’ve been connected to LBHSC ( The Hurricanes) for 13 years – as a parent, a volunteer and currently as a coach.

Our small club gives us the opportunity to really get to know all the swimmers. I am so excited to return and encourage our members to enjoy their time in the water again.

Safeguarding Team

Alan Smith

Alan Smith

Safeguarding Officer

I have worked in the Leisure Industry for over 30yrs, at Isleworth Leisure Centre for 25yrs as an Operational Manager and also was assigned Child Protection Officer.

I have also been involved in management/coaching football and rugby voluntarily.  My professional role was primarily relating to swimming lessons.

As Safeguarding Officer for LBHSC, I bring a wealth of experience both professionally and personally as a parent.  I’m fully aware of the duty of care that is required within a Club setting to ensure the welfare and safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults is upheld and prioritised. My role as Safeguarding Officer enables me to use my knowledge and experience while keeping connected to the community and being part of a team.

Safeguarding Officer

I worked at Isleworth Leisure Centre for 30yrs before taking early retirement.

I started as a receptionist and went on to become CRM. One of my roles was Safeguarding and Protecting children and vulnerable adults -an important aspect was ensuring that the welfare and security of children and vulnerable adults was a priority.

Being part of the Safeguarding Team at LBHSC has enabled me to keep connected, help the local community and support my local Swimming Club in this important role.

Learn to Swim Coach

My name is Sanae. I am a qualified Level 2 Swimming Instructor at our Learn To Swim Academy.

I enjoy seeing the children progress their water confidence and swimming ability. Teaching children water safety skills are fundamental life skills which every child should have the opportunity to learn.

I also Coach the Development squads. It’s great to see the children from our LTS Academy progress into the club!

I am also one of the instructors at Oaklands school teaching children and teens with Special Educational Needs.

Hope to see you at one of our lessons!

Hawa

Learn to Swim Coach

Hello, my Name is Hawa Joseph.

I have done my SEQ level 1 & 2, I am a qualified SEQ Level 2 Swim teacher and I am also a trained safeguarding officer.

I became a swimming instructor because of my daughter who has a physical disability and is a full-time wheelchair user, and her swim instructor was teaching her to swim. She was teaching her with passion, she made learning to swim effortless which gave my daughter the drive and ability to learn she achieved her goals at that point in time.

I also love working with children supporting and guiding them to achieve new and exciting long life goals for the future. The joy of teaching is when I see the swimmers are so happy when they master a stroke or a technique and the priceless smile you get from the swimmers for achieving ?

The reason I work for this Club, is it cares about the welfare of the staff, it also goes above and beyond to guide and support the teachers to acquire the technique and again the ability to teach swimmers so they can progress to achieve their goals.
